Exemplum focuses on creating interactive product demonstrations and simulations used for marketing, sales training, and customer support. Our demos are primarily displayed on the web, but can also be distributed in a variety of other formats, such as a CD-ROM and DVD. Exemplum manages the entire process in house from high-resolution photography to the interactive development.

An interactive product demonstration or simulation is a real life product exploration in a virtual format. It allows the user to interact and manipulate the product as if he was holding it. Macromedia Flash is Exemplum’s top choice as a development tool for creating interactivity with high quality graphics.

How will it benefit my needs?
Answer:
Interactive product demos are beneficial because they can be built to accomadate the specific requirements of a company's core funtions: marketing, training and customer support. A marketing based demo is designed to increase your sales; a training demo is constructed to inform and educate sales teams, customer support staff and/or channel partners; and a customer support demo helps to reduce time and effort on your customer support staff by initiating a customer self-help that is available 24/7.

What is Macromedia Flash?
Answer:
Macromedia Flash is a development environment for creating animations. The animations are run in a Flash Player that is embeded in the overwhelming majority of browsers used on the web today.

Do I need special software to view the demos?
Answer:
According to Macromedia's research, about 98% of Internet users can view Flash files without having to download additional software. Exemplum's use of Flash enables us to reach the broadest possible audience.

How much will my demo cost?
Answer:
Exemplum charges on the basis of time required to complete a project. Since all of Exemplum’s work is customized for each client, pricing is highly subjective and depends upon the scope and complexity of the individual project. Some of the key factors that determine final costs include:

Size and complexity of the underlying product or process
The number of features to be highlighted
The amount and type of photography involved
The amount and type of animation required, if any
The functionality provided (e.g., 360/720 spin? Zooms, color swaps, animated features list, rollover hotspots, etc.)
Whether the project will be a stand-alone file or part of a reusable template that contains common code and functionality
Language versions
Voice over requirements
Reporting requirements
File hosting
Content distribution

How large are the files? Will it take a long time for the demo to load?
Answer:
Flash product demos can vary in size from a few hundred kilobytes to several megabytes. Hi-resolution images, audio, and 360/720 spins add the biggest weight to file sizes.

Loading progress is indicated via a progress bar or "Loading" message. Files can be loaded at once or postponed until the user clicks on a particular section. Our goal is to provide 56K users with a loading message, color change, or some indication that the demo is working within 2 seconds. All demos are bandwidth tested inside the Flash development environment as well as on a 56K modem line.

Who will I work with at Exemplum to ensure my specifications are met?
Answer:
You will work hand-in-hand with one Client Manager and one Producer throughout the entire process of designing your demo. Regardless, of how many demos you do with Exemplum you will always have the same Client Manger and Producer.
